Designed to enhance your sense of well-being while seated, Variable™ Plus is an advancement of the iconic Variable™. Featuring a backrest with an upholstered cushion, the chair inspires you to vary between a wider range of sitting positions. Variable™ Plus is an ideal companion for work and study sessions, or whenever you need to stay seated for longer periods. It follows your body’s natural movements and allows you to switch between kneeling and more traditional postures. Based on the balans® concept, its tilted seat relieves pressure on the lower back and reduces tension in the neck and shoulders. Variable™ Plus is free from mechanical adjustment parts, making it lightweight and intuitive to use.
The kneeling chair that has your back
The backrest provides support when leaning back, shift your weight forward and the shin cushions offer support while you focus on the task in front of you. The curvature of the wooden runners is optimized, ensuring that finding and holding a balanced position is both effortless and intuitive.
The sculpted cushion is curved to follow the shape of the body, allowing you to move freely from side to side, while still providing support when leaning back.

Materials
Variable™ Plus is made from beech plywood. The plywood is treated through an iterative molding process where several veneer layers are combined and glued. Through the application of combined heat and pressure, the layers are given their characteristic shape. All wooden parts are flexible and strong, ensuring a sitting experience that is never static. For a beautiful and durable finish, our plywood is covered with an ash top veneer, manually sanded and coated with water-based lacquers.
Variable™ Plus Monochrome is upholstered in ONE from Fidivi. ONE is a knitted textile made from 100% recycled polyester, obtained entirely from post-consumer plastic waste. The textile is made in Italy and is OEKO-tex certified and also complies to the Global Recycled Standard. The textile is soft to touch and has a slight shine to it. With 100.000 Martindale, the textile is durable and fit to meet the demands of everyday life.

Peter Opsvik
Peter Opsvik (1939 - 2024) was a Norwegian industrial designer, and stands as one of the most influential figures in ergonomic design. Throughout his career, much of which was spent as a freelance industrial designer, Opsvik shaped the way we think about comfort and functionality. Opsvik's philosophy and design approach are integral to the Varier identity, and we continue to maintain a close collaboration with his team, working with one commitment - to reimagine the way we sit.
